I am a lifelong and 4th generation New Windsor resident. I now own a home here with my husband, Jason. We are raising our 3 year old son Jay-Jay, our newborn daughter Eleanor Rae, and our rescue dog Jaxson.
I was the recent recipient of the 2021 Orange County Rising Stars Award, being commended for my dedication to public service and various community organizations. I could not be more honored to receive this special title.
I have a bachelor’s degree in American History with minors in International Law and Women’s Studies from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College. I have a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University. I currently specialize in family law as a children’s rights attorney for Orange County. My background and experience include a variety of legal areas; including municipal, zoning, town, and contract law - which are pertinent to the roles and responsibilities of a town board member.
I come from a large, diverse family. Some of my immediate relatives work in local and federal government, local schools, local unions, and own small businesses. My grandparents were dedicated individuals to this town, holding positions in the Town Planning Board, and New Windsor Fire Department. My aunt was a Town Councilwoman for many years, and one of the founders of New Windsor Community Day.
If you ask anyone that knows me, they will say I am a very busy, motivated woman that never stops as my work is never done. I am dedicated to my community and spend the majority of my free time serving it.
I have seen firsthand New Windsor change and grow tremendously over the past few decades as I grew up and started a family here. I am very passionate about being involved in its future for the next generations. I have a lot of creative ideas I look forward to bringing to the table!
I HOPE I CAN COUNT ON YOUR SUPPORT ON ELECTION DAY - TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND.
The current Town Board is facing tough issues including a sharp influx of new residents and the rapid economic development that comes with it. Balancing that with the current capacity of our water, sewer, and infrastructure systems is delicate and complex. Our town, along with the world, was hit with an unexpected pandemic, which hurt our most vulnerable populations, including seniors and small business owners very hard.
I commend the Town Board for keeping our safety and our concerns at the forefront of their decisions. However, these issues will not immediately disappear and will require smart, hard-working individuals to join the discussions going forward. I hope to be a part of these discussions to ensure your voice will be heard, as well as lend my analytical, problem solving skills and legal training to such complex matters.
The development moratorium was recently lifted. We now need to plan for creative, thoughtful economic development that supports our small business owners, is friendly to those who enjoy their quiet neighborhoods, is friendly to our environment, and in the end makes our town a more desirable place to live and work. The town looks very different from when I was a young girl. It will continue to change and evolve. I am knowledgeable enough to know we need to have meaningful discussions on our town's long-term future that is responsible with our tax dollars, keeps our taxes low, but also keeps young families thriving here.
Our small businesses are suffering from what the last year and a half brought them, and the town has many vacant offices, buildings, and lots. If elected, I want to focus on those individuals and businesses that are struggling and bring hope back to those who may have lost it by creating new opportunities.
Another important note is that we have seen an influx of new residents join our town these past few years, particularly from or near New York City. If elected, I will ensure our new neighbors feel welcome and that our town is inclusive to all cultures and interests. I want everyone to not just live here, but enjoy living here. I would like our children to want to remain or return here one day to start their families. I will focus on expanding our recreation and senior programming, and have more family friendly activities.
Lastly, I represent an important demographic of this town that needs to be heard. I am a younger resident, female, mother, new parent, working family, and much more. I believe I will bring great value to the town board. Please help me to get there by casting your vote on November 2nd!
Thank you,
Eve
